In May 2015, the owner of a Brighton-based Locksmith company approached us about SEO. His goal was to get page one presence for ‘locksmith Brighton’ with his website, Awmasterlocksmiths. He was also keen to get some variations on the keyword to rank and use this strategy to drive daily leads.

His site had some fundamental issues with duplicate content, lack of keyword targeting, poorly managed metadata and bad page copy. We were confident that with an initial burst of onsite SEO work we could prove the value of our service and show a significant result, making future SEO work feasible for their business.

Although locksmith websites are not renowned for aggressive SEO tactics and up to date strategies, Awmasterlocksmiths was so far behind that it would take some carefully thought-out SEO to push from the depths of Google’s results.

Results

Ranking prior to SEO

 We manually tracked the rankings using px7 (non biased rankings checker) to see how the site ranks prior to day one of SEO.

After one day of SEO

locksmiths in brighton 25 (this keyword gets 50 searches a month)

BUT the interesting thing is the impact Google placed on the local listing since the work was carried out. It appears that the quality of the site improving has made Google increase visibility for the local page (it makes sense as the two are directly related).
 
SEO for Locksmiths
This increase of visibility from just one day of work leads us on to raising the standards onsite and building citations of awmasterlocksmiths on reputable directories and niche quality blogs. We plan to identify the links of top-ranking locksmiths in the UK and replicate for our client. This approach ensures we have a clean backlink profile and will take the website onto page one for both the organic result and the local listing.
